Collaboratively present an accurate and detailed history of the Order from the first crusades to today (project, movie...).
Twenty years ago, the requirements for this project was nothing less than a three thousand word essay on the entire 900- year history of our Order, followed by an annotated bibliography. These days the requirement has become this:
Present and prove your involvement in the creation of a resource aimed for your Green- and Blue-level Youth members. This resource must explain in detail at least one of the following:
The origins of the Order of St John's emblems, symbols, mottoes, values and regalia throughout its 900-yr history.
The history of the Order of Hospitallers and the Knights Hospitaller from 600AD to 1834. This must include a detailed recalling of one major event from each Youth member involved in the project.
The history of the Venerable Order in England and in New Zealand from 1831 to today. This must include the changes in uniform, ambulance and first aid practice over time and can include evidence of the interviews that were conducted as part of this course.
What does St John do, worldwide? Give a rundown of the services offered by St John in New Zealand. This must include the Mission Statement and Core Values of St John in NZ today. AND give a rundown of the Order's Priories and Ambulance Associations around the world. This must include the history of - and services offered by - the Order's Eye Hospital in Jerusalem.
Here is a sample project I made for the 2013 anniversaries:
