Internationally, this is the structure of the Most Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem:
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the Order's sovereign head, but it is run from England by the Grand Prior with the support of the Grand Council:
Our Sovereign Head Queen Elizabeth II; our Grand Prior Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester.
The Grand Council in England makes decisions that may affect us, the Priory of New Zealand. Where applicable, these decisions may be passed into St John operations and services, or through your local Area Committee.
The Prior
New Zealand's Prior is its Governor General, currently: "His Excellency Lieutenant General The Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae GNZM, QSO", to give him his full title.
The mission of the Order of St John is to prevent and relieve sickness and injury and to act to enhance the health and well-being of people of all races and creeds anywhere in New Zealand
Our Vision
The vision for St John is: Enhanced health and well-being for all New Zealanders.

We will foster an achievement-focused St John culture, which is continually striving for improvement, is innovative, cooperative, and founded in care and respect of all members.
