Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the Order's sovereign head, but it is run from England by the Grand Prior with the support of the Grand Council:

The Grand Council in England makes decisions that may affect us, the Priory of New Zealand. Where applicable, these decisions may be passed into St John operations and services, or through your local Area Committee.
